Speed was a central theme on the first day of Indy testing at Barber Motorsports Park.
Twenty seven drivers hit the course, and two-thirds of the field recorded laps in the morning session that were quicker than the official Barber record.
Will Power turned in the fastest lap time at just over 68 seconds.
"It's actually the fastest I've seen it," said Power, who the IndyCar race at Barber Motorsports the past two years. "We will look at what we learned today to understand what we can do to make it faster."
Behind Power's first place time were James Hinchliffe, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Helio Castroneves and Scott Dixon.
IndyCar series testing continues at Barber Motorsports Park on Wednesday.
The Indy Grand Prix of Alabama is scheduled for April 7.
