Barons host open house at Regions Field

With a little more than three months until opening day, folks got a chance to see inside the new home of the Birmingham Barons.

An open house took place at the new Regions Field on Saturday afternoon.

Barons staff answered questions about the new ball park, and the upcoming season.

Some fans got a look inside the new stadium.{} So many people signed up for the event because tours quickly sold out.

The Barons' general manager says the organization can't wait to bring baseball back to downtown Birmingham.

"For the first time, Barons baseball will be centrally located. Whether your north, east, west of town, we'll have easier access off I-65," says G.M. Jonathan Nelson. "We believe that this ball park will be something everybody will be excited about and will have something for everybody."

If you missed Saturday's open house, there will be another on March 9.

The official opening day for the barons is Wednesday April 10 against the Mississippi Braves.
