BIRMINGHAM - AL — Birmingham outfielder Trayce Thompson took advantage of a ninth inning error and scored the winning run all the way from second base in the Barons 6-5 win over Jackson.The Generals committed two ninth inning errors.Thompson reached on the first error of the inning when Jackson's third baseman could not field his ground ball cleanly. Thompson advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt, followed by an intentional walk to the Barons Michael Earley. Rangel Revelo hit into a potential double play with a ground ball to the shortstop. The Generals got the force out at second base but the second baseman dropped the ball while trying to remove it from his glove and the ball rolled far enough away that that Thompson was able to take off and score on the play.Relief pitcher Cody Winiarski (1-2, 3.82 ERA) worked the final two innings and picked up his first win of the season.Birmingham is off on Tuesday before beginning a five game home series with the Montgomery Biscuits.
