Beard cutting Amish leader convicted in Ohio

Membersof an Amish community in Burgholz, Ohio went to court in Cleveland Friday tohear the fate of the man some say is a monster.

A federaljury convicted Sam Mullet and 15 of his followers on kidnapping and conspiracycharges, as well as hate crimes.

It allstarted when rival bishops accused him of child abuse.{} In retaliation, Mullet cut the beards and hair of his enemies, which is a grave insult for theAmish.

Theprosecution in the case is pushing for Mullet to be sentenced to life behindbars.

His followers are facing several years in prison.
