Birmingham Mayor William Bell is headed to the nation's capital tomorrow. He will attend the ceremony where the four girls killed in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing will be honored with a congressional gold medal.
At a new conference this afternoon, Mayor Bell said it's fitting that it passed this year, which marks 50 years since the Civil Rights Movement. He said. "Birmingham is not the city we once was that we've made tremendous progress and have affected the rest of the world with what happened back in 1963."
President Obama will sign the bill at 2:15 tomorrow.
