Bessemer Police arrest two suspects in robbery case

      Bessemer Police have made two arrests in a robbery case.{} Raymond Thompson and Avery Jackson, both 18, were arrested and charged with first degree robbery.{} The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve in the parking lot of West Town Plaza.{} Police say a woman was loading package into the trunk of her car when one of the men approached her with a gun.{} He demanded she give up her purse while pointing the gun at her waist.{} The suspect then grabbed her purse as two other males drove up in a burgundy PT Cruiser.{} He jumped into the back seat and fled southbound on 9th Avenue North.{} The vehicle was later spotted and was followed into the parking lot of Motel 6.{} All three suspects jumped out and fled.{} The driver was caught after a short foot chase.{} The two passengers were later apprehended out of a room at the motel.
