Bibles used to smuggle controlled substance into correctional facility

The Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force arrested six suspects as a result of an investigation involving the smuggling of a controlled substance into the Shelby County Correctional Facility.{} Arrests warrants are still pending on five other suspects.{} Corrections officers at the facility alerted SCDETF after a bible containing hidden Suboxone was found.{} Suboxone is a scheduled 3 opiate.

During the course of the investigation, multiple bibles were used to smuggle the controlled substance into the facility during November and December 2013.{} The SCDETF investigation began January 2, 2014 and ended in March.{}

The suspects are Charles Robert Caldwell of Calera, Altonius Donnel Mason of Birmingham, Larry Brian Morris of Wilsonville, Larry Keith Morris of Shelby, Jacob Kenneth Mykicz of Homewood and Quran Elijah Wilson of Hoover.{}
