Birmingham church fed up with thefts

Thefts have plagued a Birmingham church community for years, according to its members. From air conditioning units to televisions, church members from Redeeming Grace Full Gospel Church in the Woodlawn area said suspects have targeted their church several times. Members of the congregation reached out to ABC 33/40 for help after a man allegedly broke through a stained-glass window and stole a $1,700 keyboard Saturday. "It was really disheartening to see that someone had no regard for the church at all," said member Lisa Bryant Bimbo. "We're trying our best to stay here in this community and be a light for the people around here."Each stained-glass window, dedicated to church members who have passed, is worth $750."What kind of person would steal from a church?," asked Bimbo. "To me, it's a person who has no regard."After several A/C units were stolen, the church installed surveillance cameras. Members say one captured Saturday's suspect on camera. If you have any information on who may be targeting the church, contact Crime Stoppers. You will remain anonymous.
