Birmingham council may vote on cleanup

The Birmingham city council plans to vote Tuesday on wether to approve more than $130,000 to help with the north Birmingham environmental clean-up.Part of the area is a declared EPA Superfund site, including Harriman Park, Collegeville and Fairmont neighborhoods.{} {} {}William Parker represents the district. {}He's requesting the money to hire four consultants. {}They will help with issues including public relations, coordination of activities and grant-writing.Parker, city leaders and community members will make an educational trip to a former Superfund site in South Carolina later this month.
