Birmingham families, business owners assess damage after storms

      People across metro Birmingham are assessing structural damage Friday after overnight storms.In fact, at least three houses in Ensley had large trees crush rooftops. One house is destroyed. There are also significant weather-related damages to businesses and churches in the Avondale area.Thousands of people also dealt with power outages overnight due to heavy winds knocking down lines, according to Alabama Power.But people are offering help. Volunteers with the Red Cross and The Southern Baptist Convention are traveling across the area to assist by providing everything from shelter and clothing to tree removal services.Stay with ABC 33/40 for more on this developing story.
