Birmingham Fire called to apartment fire on 16th Avenue South; report of person trapped
The Birmingham Fire Department is working an apartment fire that started around 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
The apartment complex is located at 1509 16th Avenue South and the department reports that there is possibly a person trapped inside the building.
ABC 33/40 has a crew at the scene and we will provide more information as it is made available.Update:

Birmingham Fire officials say the fire started in Apartment 1, and heavy smoke was billowing out of the unit when they arrived on the scene at 2:50 p.m.
The fire was contained to the one single apartment unit, but some other units experienced smoke damage.
One woman was taken to UAB Hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries after fire fighters rescued her from the blaze. No one else was injured.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
