Birmingham firefighters working 2-alarm commercial fire at abandoned hotel
Birmingham fire and rescue crews are on the scene of a 2-alarm commercial fire at an abandoned hotel at 3rd Avenue North and 10th Street Wednesday night.
Firefighters responded to the call around 8 p.m. at the old Adams Inn hotel and flames, including heavy smoke were reported on at least two floors of building. The hotel has been abandoned for several years and was damaged by a previous fire in 2010.
Crews have since setup a command post as they continue their attempt to extinguish the flames. Around 9:30 p.m., firefighters had the fire under control and contained.
It is unknown at this time if anyone was inside the hotel when the fire began. There are no reports of injuries.
