Birmingham man, 38, arrested on murder charge for fatal stabbing

A Birmingham man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing of a 55-year-old man last month, police said.

James Johnson, 38, is charged with murder for the death of John Mullins, who was found suffering from stab wounds around 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30 in the 500 block of 41st Street North. The victim was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was later died.

Johnson is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

Authorities have not released information regarding a possible motive in the killing. It is unknown at this time if Johnson has an attorney.
