Birmingham man arrested for murder in connection with fatal shooting in Norwood Bottoms community

Tavares Taylor, 27, of Birmingham, is charged with murder in the shooting death of 27-year-old James Redmon.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- A Birmingham man has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting death of a 27-year-old man in the Norwood Bottoms community earlier this week, police said today.

Tavares Taylor, 27, is accused of shooting and killing James Redmon in the 1700 block of 32nd Place North around 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday, and he has since been charged with murder. He is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $300,000 bond.

According to Lt. Sean Edwards, Taylor and Redmon were reportedly involved in a domestic dispute prior to the shooting. Birmingham police are still investigating the case.
