African American art highlighted Birmingham Museum of Art

Dr. Jeffreen Hayes was on Talk of Alabama this morning to talk about the "Collecting the African Diaspora" exhibit at the Birmingham Museum of Art. {}Hayes is the Andrew W. Mellon Curatorial Fellow of African American Art at the museum.From the web site:The Museum actively acquires African American art for the permanent collection. The Birmingham Museum of Art's Sankofa Society: Friends of American and African Art support group plays an integral role in supporting the Museum's mission of building the African American art collection. Sankofa has and continues to help the Museum by acquiring African American art.
