The Birmingham News rolled out its shift from print to digital Monday, as Alabama Media Group moves from publishing newspapers seven days a week to three.
Alabama Media Group President Cindy Martin explains: "Our shift in production is no one's fault. It's not the fault of any of our reporting or the leadership that has been here in the past. This is technology and this is an evolution. And what we are doing is we are jumping ahead strategically to where people already are."
Monday's edition encompassed "Get to Know Al.com," which included a website guide and transition explanation.
Newspapers will now be delivered Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
