Birmingham Police arrest three after finding stolen motorcycles

Three suspects, James Martin, Vittorio Brown, Leon McKinney, have been charged in connection with an auto theft investigation. {}According to a release by the Birmingham Police Department, the investigation began on Friday, October 19, 2012, in the 4700 block of Avenue R. when BPD Auto Theft detectives responded to the area to investigate a report of stolen motorcycles. While in the area, detectives were able to gather additional information on the precise location of the motorcycles. As detectives approached the location, they observed the suspect with two motorcycles. {}Upon further investigation, detectives found that one motorcycle was reported stolen in Hoover and the other had an obscured vehicle identification number. Detectives took the suspect into custody without incident.


During the same call to the 4700 block of Court R detectives located three motorcycles on the front porch of a home. Upon further investigation, detectives found that two of the motorcycles were reported stolen. Detectives took a second suspect into custody without incident.

The investigation also led to the arrest of a third suspect that was found to be in possession of a stolen motorcycle. Detectives took the third suspect into custody without incident.

A total of five motorcycles were recovered during the investigation.{}
