Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper named Crime Stopper of the Year
Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper has been named Crime Stopper of the Year.
Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama awarded him the honor during a fundraising luncheon Thursday at Hoover's Embassy Suites.
"We've had tremendous success lowering crime in Birmingham with the lowest numbers in about 30 years," said Roper. "But we know there's much more work to be done, so we can't rest on the success so far."
Alabama Supreme Court justice Mike Bolin was the keynote speaker.
Jefferson County Sheriff Mike Hale was named Crime Stopper of the Year in 2013.
