BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Birmingham police have released the name of the woman who was found dead in a plastic container late Monday morning.
The body of 61-year-old Patricia McCain, of Morris, was found stuffed in a plastic box in the 1500 block of 15th Street South just before noon, and authorities are investigating her death as a homicide.
With the use of fingerprints, the Jefferson County Coroner's Office was able to identify the victim and determine that McCain was murdered.
Investigators have since taken a person of interest into custody for questioning, though no charges have been filed at this time.

Police have charged a Birmingham man in connection with the death of a 61-year-old woman, who was found dead in a plastic container Monday.
Charles Jordan, 38, is charged with murder for allegedly killing Patricia McCain of Morris and putting her body in a box, which was discovered just before noon in the 1500 block of 15th Street. According to police, Jordan and the victim were acquaintances and known for their "heavy drug use."
Jordan is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $60,000 bond.
