Birmingham receives $10 million check

The city of Birmingham now has an additional $10 million.

Congresswoman Terri Sewell and Mayor William Bell were presented a check, Friday in Pratt City, to help fund it's "Road to Recovery" project. The money is part of the TIGER grant.

It will go toward repairing roads in the city.

Sewell says it's a sign of new beginnings following last year's tornado.

"Today, to me, is a celebration of the resilient spirit that is in Alabama," Sewell said. "Out of the tragedy of April 27th, we have found hope, we have been able to figure out a way together to raise enough resources to rebuild our community bigger and better than before."
