Eastern Area Neighborhood Summit

An Eastern Area Neighborhood Summit will be held Friday night for Birmingham residents. Birmingham City Councilor Lashunda Scales says the purpose is to have an "unscripted" call to action meeting to address citizen concerns that matter most.

Topics include: the possible closing of Cooper Green Mercy Hospital, Birmingham City School system's state take-over, City of Birmingham's 150 million dollar Bond proposal, community crime prevention, the loss of business development and much more

Some of the speakers expected are: Councilor Lashunda Scales (Council District 1),{} Dr. Sandra Hullett, MD (CEO - Cooper Green Mercy Hospital), State School Superintendent - Dr. Tommy Bice, Birmingham City School Superintendent - Dr. Craig Witherspoon, Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper, and Council President Roderick Royal.

The event will be held at the Northeast YMCA, 628 Red Lane Road. It's from 6:00- 9:00 p.m. and is open to the public.
