Birmingham School Board attends governance training

Members of the Birmingham Board of Education are having the first of four training sessions, aimed at learning how to govern, Tuesday.

The session is being conducted by the Alabama Association of School Boards.{}The{}topic is "Principles of School Board Governance."{}It includes a{}PowerPoint presentation and a discussion.

Some board members, Superintendent Dr. Craig Witherspoon, state-appointed CFO Dr. Ed Richardson and others were in attendance at the meeting.

The series of talks are a response to the state takeover, and a letter of concern from AdvancED.
