Sanctions lifted from Birmingham Southern College

Birmingham- Southern College is no longer under sanctions by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools - Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC). The board voted to remove the school from sanction due to the positive strides made regarding financial stability and resources.

Earlier this year, a Special Committee appointed by SACS-COC conducted an on-site evaluation of BSC and found the college had made much progress in a short period.

BSC's recent fundraising effort brought in close to $16 million in unrestricted funds in the past year; those funds will assist the college in restoring its endowment and buying back debt.{}The college also has embarked on a strategic planning process to find ways to continue strengthening the college.
