      Birmingham holding events to honor civil, human rights

      The City of Birmingham is gearing up for major events honoring the civil and human rights movements.

      Empowerment Week, which will be held in September, is an annual commemoration of the Civil Rights Movement and the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church.
