BJCC releases new parking plan before closing of spaces under I-20/59 bridge

The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex has released its new parking plan ahead of the September 2 closing of some 400 parking spaces under the downtown I-20/59 bridges, ABC 33/40 has learned.BJCC representatives contend there are more than 7,642 spaces of parking in and around the facility. Therefore, there are ample spaces to handle the change. The group also lists other changes for riders and BJCC visitors.1. Parking will be available at spaces controlled by the BJCC as well as adjacent public parking facilities such as the decks at Boutwell Auditorium and the former Social Security building.{}2. Considerable on-street parking is available on streets surrounding and within the BJCC complex.{}3. Uptown Entertainment District patrons can have their parking passes validated at the parking lot just north of Uptown, between 23rd and 24th Streets North. Complimentary valet parking is also available, on Uptown Way between Mugshots and Cantina Laredo.{}4. The BJCC recently completed improvements to two existing parking lots, just north of the Uptown Entertainment District between 23rd and 24th Streets North.
