'Bo Bikes Bama' gears up for second ride


Sports Legend Bo Jackson kicked off the second-annual "Bo Bikes Bama 2" Friday.

Governor Robert Bentley and House Speaker Mike Hubbard{}joined Jackson during a news conference at the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in downtown Birmingham.

The charity bike ride will take place in Cordova on the second anniversary of the April 27, 2011, tornado outbreak. Donations will support the Governor's Emergency Relief Fund, which serves the people of Alabama by meeting long-term, unmet needs for storm-related needs.

In its inaugural year, "Bo Bikes Bama" raised more than{}$600,000. The Governor's Emergency Relief Fund has raised more than $6 million total for storm recovery, which includes building several community storm shelters.
