WALKER COUNTY, Ala. -- The search for a 53-year-old man who went missing in the Warrior River last weekend continued Tuesday without any sign of the victim.
Danny McCleskey, who disappeared Saturday night after falling into the water while changing a light on a barge, has yet to be found as the search creeps closer to day four.
According to an Alabama Marine Police spokesperson, authorities have been trolling the waters with sonar equipment, which is dragged behind a boat, sending sound waves to the river bottom and recording the reflected waves to create an image. Crews examine the images for any irregularities below the surface that would otherwise not be present.
Search teams also enlisted the help of cadaver dogs.
Officials said it's possible that if McCleskey is deceased in the water, his body may not surface until warmer weather arrives, which could be up to two weeks from now.
ABC 33/40 will continue to following this ongoing story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
