Body found in Leeds early Saturday morning, police investigate

The Leeds Police Department and the Jefferson County Coroner's Office are investigating the death of a 52-year-old man found Saturday morning near railroad tracks.

The body was reported around 3:00 a.m. by a Norfolk Southern train crew as it was passing between Franklin Street and Hale Street in Leeds.

It is unknown why the man, who has only been identified as a 52-year-old white man, was on the tracks and a cause of death has not been determined.

The victim's name is being withheld awaiting notification of family.
