      BPD Police Chief A.C. Roper speaks for the first time since Atheist complaint

      Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper still moves forward holding another prayer walk after an atheist group says it's a violation.

      The walk was started at Sardis Missionary Baptist Church.{}{}{}{}

      Earlier this week, an atheist group filed a complaint saying Roper promotes Christianity, violating the constitution's separation of church and state.

      Saturday, Roper commented for the first time to the media saying he has rights as a Christian.{}"This is still America, we have the freedom of speech, we have the freedom of religion, we have the freedom of assembly and it applies for everybody," says Roper.

      The next prayer walk is scheduled next month.
