Atlanta Braves outfielder Jason Heyward is going on the 15-day disabled list after an appendectomy.
The team announced the move on Tuesday before it's double-header against the Colorado Rockies. Infielder Tyler Pastornicky was called up from Triple-A to fill Heyward's spot on the roster.
According to manager Fredi Gonzalez, Heyward had been feeling ill for several days. The player saw a doctor on Monday night, tests showed a problem with his appendix, and Heyward underwent surgery soon afterward.
Heyward is batting .121 with two home runs and five RBIs through the first 18 games of the season.
