BREAKING: Birmingham Fire & Rescue Chief Ivor Brooks has died
ABC 33/40 has learned Birmingham Fire Chief Ivor Brooks died Wednesday at Brookwood Medical Center. He was 57.According to a city hall employee, Brooks died from a heart attack. Mayor William Bell and other city leaders are at the hospital and are expected to address the media about Brooks' death."It is with great sympathy and heartfelt condolence that we share the news of Chief Ivor Brooks passing this afternoon," Bell said in a released statement. "Please keep his family and the men and women of the BFD in your thoughts and prayers."Brooks first began working with Birmingham Fire & Rescue in 1982, and 25 years later, he was named chief of the department, a position he held until his death.
