Updated: Suspect Surrenders To Police


Jefferson County deputies say 22-year-old Jeremy Nevitt turned himself in to authorities on Sunday. He is now facing robbery charges. Deputies say he has bonded out of jail.



After hours of negotiations, the search for{}a robbery suspect{}near Adamsville is over.{} The suspect, Jeremy Nevitt,{}is wanted in connection with{}a Mountain Brook Piggly Wiggly robbery that happened Wednesday night.{}

Mountain Brook police were in the Adamsville area Friday morning{}when they spotted a white vehicle matching the vehicle{}captured on surveillance video{}in the grocery store robbery. The suspect came outside, and a chase began. The chase led police back to the house on{}Tall Tree Lane. After more than eight hours of negotiating, police confirmed the suspect{}was not inside. The white vehicle has been towed, and police continue to search for the suspect.

The suspect's mother has identified him as 22-year-old Jeremy Nevitt. Authorities are using a{}bullhorn to ask him to answer his phone. At this point, he has not answered when his mother has attempted to phone him.

Update:The school lockdown has been lifted and the area is secure, but the standoff continues.

According to Chief Deputy, Randy Christian, it began as a pursuit of a robbery suspect by Mountain Brook Police.{} The pursuit ended in the Forestdale area.{} That's where the unidentified suspect got out the vehicle and fled on foot.{} He went into a house on the 4000 block of Tall Tree Lane in Adamsville.

This is believed to be the suspect's house or that of a family member.{} The suspect is armed with a handgun.{} SWAT has been called out.

Bottenfield Middle School was notified to lock down for security reasons.
