Brush fire threatens hundreds of homes

A brush fire started on private property resulted in several fire companies being called out this morning. The McAdory Fire Department responded but received assistance from McCalla and the Indian Run Fire Departments. They were able to get a fire line cut around the fire and get it under control.{} It threatened about 750 homes in the Letson Farms community but others on Lou George Loop road as well. Officials say the fire was the result of casual brush burning that got out of control. Outdoor burning is banned in Jefferson County and officials urge people not to do it as this is a result. Windy Conditions caused the fire to spread.
