Homewood police investigating string of home burglaries

Homewood Police are investigating a string of burglaries after four homes were targeted in less than a 24-hour period.

Thefirst incident occurred Thursday evening at a home in the 500 block ofBroadway Street, where police say burglars broke in through a window andstole two televisions before taking yard tools from a backyard shed.

Thesecond incident happened just before noon on Friday at a home in the400 block of Windsor Drive. Officers responded to a burglary alarm atthe location, where a burglar apparently made an attempt to break intothe home through the back door before fleeing the scene withoutentering. According to police, a possible suspect -- a young black malewearing a gray jacket and jeans -- was seen walking down the street nearthe home. Also, a white SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Tahoe or FordExpedition, was seen parked in the driveway during the attemptedburglary.{}

Two more burglaries were reported Friday between 7:40a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Burglars forced their way through a door at a homein the 100 block of Lakeview Drive, where they stole electronics andjewelry. Burglars entered through a window at a home in the 200 block ofKent Drive and proceeded to steal credit cards, laptops, two guns andprescription medicine.
