Business ban moratorium off the table for Tuscaloosa

Tuscaloosa may no longer push, to keep certain businesses out of the tornado reconstruction zones.{} A proposal was on the table to place a moratorium on tattoo parlors, check cashing businesses and tobacco shops.{} But at Tuesday's council meeting, Mayor Walt Maddox said that there is no need for the restrictions, because there's no indication that a "plethora" of those type businesses plan to open in the area.{} The council agreed to join in, with the city of Northport, for a study on how those types of businesses affect growth.
