Business incubator to open in Tuscaloosa

The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, the City of Tuscaloosa and The University of Alabama{}joined forces to create a business incubator in downtown Tuscaloosa to be called The Edge - Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

The Edge consists of almost 9000 square feet of office and shared space to be leased to early stage companies.

"Encouraging innovation is a top economic development priority,"{}said J. Michael Hardin, Dean of UA's Culverhouse College of Commerce.{} "I think a major responsibility for any business school is to join forces with community partners to attract creative talent and entrepreneurs who can help us teach our students and their employees how to build a successful business."

The purpose of The Edge is to help West Alabama entrepreneurs succeed. The Chamber and its partners will help find ways to link entrepreneurs with critical assets and remove barriers to growth, drive revenues and employment opportunities.{}
