The program is called "Business watch".
It got started at the beginning of the year. Officers check in with the businesses, sign a log to verify that everything is smooth at the beginning and end of the day. This leaves owners secure, and unharmed in Cordova. "It does make us feel safer to know that they're here to watch out for us," says Annie Stacks, manager of First Bank of Jasper.
Chief Nick Smith with the Cordova Police department says, "We wanted to kind of incorporate the businesses into our neighborhood watch."
The next "Business watch" meeting is scheduled for Thursday February 28th, at 7pm at City Hall in Cordova.
