HOOVER - AL —
Two Alabama state senators are asking for funding to replace school textbooks with electronic devices.
Republican Senators Gerald Dial and Jim McClendon argue that textbooks are out-of-date and the state could save more than $15 million in book replacement costs by using laptops and tablets.
The program would call for about $100 million in bonds to buy the devices.
This topic is scheduled to come up during the 2014 legislative session.
