Calera pastor charged with first-degree rape

      Pastor Harry Jones of New Mount Moriah{}Missionary{}Baptist Church plans to fight a first-degree rape charge. {} Calera Police say on April 2, Jones raped a 39-year-old woman.{}

      "I've done nothing wrong and I'm going to prove that I've done nothing wrong." said Jones.{}The 49-year-old pastor says he doesn't know the alleged victim, and{}he feels hurt that someone would accuse him of such a crime.{}Authorities in the case haven't released much information about the woman, other than her age and race.{}Now, the pastor hopes his congregation will stand by him during this difficult time.{}"A charge of rape is a very serious crime and I have to say I just don't believe that." said Ernest Montgomery, a deacon at the church. {}"Hopefully, I've done enough for this community for them to trust me until this is settled." said Jones.{}It is unknown at this time when Jones will make his first court appearance, but{}members of the church have scheduled a meeting Thursday to decide the next course of action.{}
