      SUV carrying infant struck by train in north Titusville (Update)

      Birmingham Police and Fire are on the scene of an accident after a car was struck by a train.

      The accident happened around 9 p.m. near the intersection of Center Place North and Kappa Avenue in north Titusville.

      An adult and a child were reportedly in the car when it was hit by the train.

      We have a crew at the scene and will provide updates as information becomes available.

      Update #1

      At least two victims have been transported to the hospital by ambulance. The infant victim is reportedly in poor condition, and has been transported to Children's Hospital.

      Update #2

      The victims hit by the train were in a white Ford Expedition. Birmingham Police Sgt. Johnnie Williams is expected on the scene soon.

      Update #3

      Sgt. Johnnie Williams said four people were injured in the accident. The infant victim was ejected from the Ford Expedition and is in critical condition at Children's Hospital.

      Birmingham's Accident Recreation Team is working to piece together exactly what happened Tuesday night when a train collided with the rear end of a Ford Expedition.
