Cardinals getting closer to conclave

Sistine Chapel is closed to visitors

The Sistine Chapel hasannounced it is closing to visitors, the clearest sign yet that a papalconclave is at hand.

One thing holding upprogress is the Vatican is still waiting for five more cardinals to arrivebefore setting a date to begin selecting a new pope. A total of 115 areexpected to take part in the conclave.

Tuesday also brought asecond day of pre-conclave meetings with cardinals to organize the papalelection process and get to know one another. During the meetings, cardinalsasked for information about the management of the Vatican bureaucracy aftersaying they wanted to get to the bottom of allegations of corruption andcronyism in the Holy See's governance.
