Center Point man arrested for trafficking heroin

Jefferson County sheriff deputies have arrested a Center Point man for trafficking heroin.{} It happened just after 2:00 Tuesday afternoon in the 500 block of 20th Avenue NE.{} Deputies stopped a suspicious vehicle in the area.{} A passenger, Arthur Ross,{} immediately fled on foot, but was taken into custody after a short foot chase.

Ross was found to be in possession of 210 dose units of heroin, diluadid tablets, Xanax tablets and the prescription drug, suboxone.{} The driver, Antonio Purdom, was found to be in possession of marijuana, prescription cough syrup and scales.{} The 32 year old also had several outstanding arrest warrants.

Ross is charged with trafficking heroin and four counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.{} He's at the Jefferson County Jail on a $85,000 bond.{} Purdom is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and a controlled substance.{} He's also at the Jefferson County Jail on a $36,000 bond.
