Ceremonial planting at Vulcan Park for Arbor Day

One of the Birmingham area's most famous parks is getting some "sprucing up" for Arbor Day.{} Vulcan Park and Museum has been given a donation of eight trees from the Birmingham Botanical Garden.{} Those trees are to be planted in time for Arbor Day.{} The trees are a mix of Alabama native oaks that are well-adapted to upland sites: white oak, post oak, black oak, and southern red oak. Seed was collected from venerable specimens in Birmingham parks and grown at Birmingham Botanical Gardens. There will be a ceremonial planting of the trees in celebration of the holiday.{} The public is invited to come watch, Friday, April 25th.{}{}{} The ceremony is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m.
