Suspect in fatal shooting in Trussville charged with murder

Freddie Earl Patton, the 53-year-old man taken into custody following the fatal shooting of 81-year-old Ken Millar, of Trussville, has been charged with murder, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office confirmed to ABC 33/40.

Patton is accused of killing Millar at the victim's home on Rockridge Avenue Thursday. He is being held on a $150,000 bond.


The suspect police believe is responsible for killing an 81-year-old Trussville man is expected to be charged Friday, according to Trussville Police.

Ken Millar was shot and killed inside his Rockridge Avenue residence Thursday afternoon.

53-year-old Freddie Earl Patton is in custody in the Trussville City Jail in connection with the shooting.

Police said{}Patton is the father of Millar's grandchild and lived in the house for approximately seven years.

Thursday's shooting was Trussville's first homicide of the year.
