Cheaha State Park still recovering from winter storm

Part of Cheaha State Park still remains closed following the early February winter storm. Even in open areas, park officials are urging people to be cautious.

The upper campground and many trails are still closed to the public. Bald Rock Board Walk will remain shutdown until further notice.

Ice and snow caused power poles and trees to fall February 11. It took crews days just to get inside to start the clean up. Part of the park was able to reopen a week later, including the store.

But park goers are still urged to call before making the trip. The active phone numbers at 256-488-5111 and 1-800-610-5801.
