Cheaha State Park will partially reopen this Saturday after a crippling ice storm devastated Alabama's highest mountain last week.

According to park superintendent Tammy Powers, some portions of the park including the hotel, gift shop, restaurant and lodge are now functional following the completion of repairs to power boxes that were damaged in last week's winter storm.Four of the park's eight trails remain non-functional as work to remove debris from Pulpit Rock, Rock Garden, Lake Trail and Rock Trail continues. Officials say volunteers will assist in the recovery efforts this weekend.{}Anyone interested in volunteering at the park is asked to call 1-800-610-5801.
