A former bookkeeper at LeCroy Career Technical Institute in Clanton has been indicted on theft and other charges by a Chilton County grand jury after it was alleged that she stole around $50,000, a spokesperson with the district attorney's office confirmed to ABC 33/40.
Temika Varner Winters is charged with one count of first-degree theft, one count of ethics violation and 16 counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument. The ethics violation charge alleges Winters used her position for personal gain.
The grand jury handed down the 18-count indictment within the past 24 hours and around two weeks after getting the case.
Winters, who is reportedly being represented by attorney Joseph McGuire, is due in court March 10 for her arraignment.
