Congregation holds first service in new church since April 2011 tornado

Dozens pack Concord Highland Baptist Church for the congregation's first service since the April 27th, 2011 tornado. The support is astounding for Rev. Richard Larson.

"It's exciting, overwhelming, it's just simply awesome. God blesses and does things in mysterious ways and here we are," says Rev. Larson.

Unexpectedly, Easter Sunday was the last service the church held in their previous building before it was destroyed by the storm.

Now members rejoice through song and prayer. Church member Barbara Bowden says, "This is just really exciting for us, the Lord has blessed us. The spirit of this church has been lifted since the tornado with the building of this church."

And as Easter Sunday commemorates resurrection and renewal, church leaders say they will continue their mission by uplifting and not forgetting.

"We hate that the storm did what it did, but you never know what Gods got in store at the end," says Rev. Larson.
