Citizens on Patrol get new crime fighting tools

They've stopped crime in progress, and they are{}never far away when gun shots ring out.{} They even{}have uniforms, but they can not make an arrest.

Volunteers{}received new crime fighting tools Monday morning.{}{}They will use two new cars to monitor and patrol their{}community.

Police Chief A.C. Roper{}and Birmingham Mayor{}William Bell both{}say the{}cars will be useful in combating crime.{} People{}can expect to see the vehicles on the road by the end of the month.

The Citizens on Patrol program has been so successful, Bell wants to see it become a city-wide initiative.
