Lockdown lifted at Paul W. Bryant High School

UPDATE:{} School leaders call incident at Bryant High School a "food fight." One student was arrested for disorderly conduct.{} The code yellow lockdown was required under the school systems crisis plan.


A code yellow lockdown has been lifted at Paul W. Bryant High School in Cottondale. Principal Raquel Payne-Giles issued the lockdown Wednesday morning due to an internal disturbance. In a voicemail to parents, Payne-Giles said several students were throwing bags of flour, vinegar, pickles, water and raw eggs.{} Some students were also setting off firecrackers. Payne-Giles called the behavior unfortunate and said it will not be tolerated. {}An investigation is underway. There are no reports of injuries.

Classes and school activities have returned to their normal routines.
